About

Fatima Al Kurdi
is a curator, art advisor, and collector whose work spans over museums, contemporary art, and cultural entrepreneurship. Raised in Abu Dhabi and educated at Sorbonne University, she holds a degree in Art History and Archaeology. Her journey into the art world began in museums, where she has spent over a decade shaping educational, curatorial, and public engagement initiatives.

She is currently part of the Education Department at Louvre Abu Dhabi and previously worked at 421 in Education and Outreach. Fatima also served as Senior Curator at Iris Art Advisory, where she curated seven exhibitions and led numerous art talks and panels across the UAE. Her curatorial work has consistently spotlighted both local and regional artists, contributing to a deeper understanding of contemporary art in the region. She has also helped place works in both private and public collections, supporting a new generation of collectors.

Since 2018, she has worked as a curator and advisor for Aicon Contemporary New York, specializing in South Asian contemporary art. Her advisory practice has guided collectors in acquiring key works by artists from India, New York, and the broader Middle East. Through Aicon, she has also contributed to the placement of important works in international museums and institutions.

As a collector herself, Fatima is intentionally building a personal collection centered on South Asian contemporary art, with a focus on cultural hybridity, social narratives, and artistic experimentation. Her collection is both personal and purposeful, shaped by long-standing relationships with artists, years of research, and a commitment to preserving voices that are often underrepresented in the Middle East. For her, collecting is not simply about ownership, but about creating a living archive of memory, identity, and journeys.

In 2020, she founded TART — a platform that began as an art history podcast and has since grown to support new collectors and highlight emerging voices from South Asia and the Middle East.

Fatima aspires to expand her collection with care and vision, while inspiring a new generation to see art not just as possession, but as storytelling, preservation, and legacy. She is especially passionate about cultivating a culture of collecting among young adults ,rooted in curiosity, cultural consciousness, and long-term engagement.

Beyond the art world, Fatima is the co-founder of Syda, a beauty lounge grounded in a three-generation, women-led legacy. Her mother and grandmother were icons in Kuwait and Amman for their celebrated salons. Launched in Abu Dhabi, Syda Beauty Lounge is a modern expression of that heritage: a space where women feel welcomed, connected, and confident.
